Human power is an opportunity to reduce this dependence and our waist-lines. What would a mass market human power generated product look like? Convenient and easy to use. Affordable, at least in that it pays for itself within a short time.
Convenience, Cost, Coolness and Power Production (GHGs saved)Convenience – easy to use, small size (different size homes), easy to assemble (no assembly), folding, adjustable to different sized users. Cost – bike power generators are currently available for $350-500. Mass production could lower the cost of these devices. Initial adopters, green yuppies, hippies, long-term cost balancers, families. Coolness – slick style, aerodynamic appearance, fit into the home environment. A feedback display would give a sense of accomplishment to the user. Environmentally Beneficial – how much electrical power will be saved, produced, avoided?
